Vacuum consumable arc melting furnace.jpgThe copper-chromium contact material prepared by vacuum arc melting method has the advantages of less inclusion, fine microstructure, uniform distribution of Cr phase and high density, thus shows excellent performance in medium voltage circuit breakers.

During the arc melting progress, the CuCr consumable electrode melts rapidly under the action of high temperature DC arc, and the molten mixture drips into water cooled copper crucible and solidifies layer by layer rapidly to form a CuCr ingot.

Demanding processes such as the preparation of the consumable electrode, the maintenance of stable arc and melting progress, and the rapid cooling of the ingot should be well implemented.
